Privacy
This policy explains what stolanacres.com collects, why, who it goes to, and how to get it removed. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, ask us and we will answer plainly.
Who we are
Stolan Acres is an identity-first brand studio run by Steve and Nolan in Michigan, United States. We are the controller of the information described here.
For anything to do with your data, including asking us to delete it, email hello@stolanacres.com. A person reads it.
What we collect, and why
When you just visit
We record how people arrive and which pages they read, so we know whether our work is reaching anyone. This runs on our own servers and sets no cookies. It collects: the page you are on, the hostname that referred you (not the full address), any campaign tags already in the link you clicked, a rough device class, and a random session key that is discarded when you close the tab. It does not identify you, and we cannot use it to contact you.
We also use Vercel Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking.
When you write to us
Our contact form collects your name, email, an optional business name, the subject you pick, and your message. We keep the campaign information above alongside it, so we know which piece of work brought you to us. We use this to reply and to keep track of the conversation. We do not add you to any marketing list because you asked us a question.
When you subscribe
Our newsletter form collects your first name and email. You are subscribing on purpose, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
When you buy something
Payments are handled by Stripe, and orders for physical goods by Shopify. We never see or store your full card number. We do keep your name, email, what you bought and when, because we need it to deliver the work and keep our own records.
Advertising
We run the Meta pixel on this site. It sets cookies, tells Meta which pages you viewed here, and lets us show ads to people who have visited. This is the one part of our setup that shares information with a company that is not working solely on our behalf, so we would rather name it directly than bury it.
You can turn this off. The routes are in Your choices below.
Cookies
Most of this site sets no cookies at all. The exceptions are listed here in full.
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
_fbp | Meta | Identifies a browser so Meta can measure and target ads. | 3 months |
_fbc | Meta | Records that you arrived from a Meta ad. Only set if you did. | 3 months |
stolan_skey | Us | A random key so one visit reads as one visit. Held in session storage, not a cookie, and gone when you close the tab. | Session |
stolan_entry | Us | Records which page you landed on first this visit. Held in session storage, not a cookie, and gone when you close the tab. | Session |
stolan_first_touch | Us | Remembers which link first brought you here. Held in local storage, not a cookie. | Until you clear it |
The shop at shop.stolanacres.com runs on Shopify and sets its own cookies for the cart and checkout. Those are listed in the policy published on that store.
Who your information goes to
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade it. We use a small number of companies to run the business, and each one only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Vercel, hosting and page-view counts
- Supabase, our database, where contact messages and records are stored
- Resend, sends the notification when you use the contact form
- Klaviyo, sends our newsletter, if you subscribed
- Stripe, takes payments
- Shopify, runs the shop and its checkout
- Meta, advertising, as described above
We will also hand over information if the law genuinely requires it, and we will tell you unless we are forbidden from doing so.
How long we keep it
Contact messages and customer records stay until you ask us to delete them, or until they stop being useful to either of us. Analytics records are kept in aggregate. Ask us to delete your information and we will, without making it difficult.
Your choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. Email hello@stolanacres.com. We will not charge you and we will not ask why.
To stop the advertising cookies specifically:
- Adjust your ad preferences at Meta's ad settings
- Opt out across many advertisers at the Digital Advertising Alliance or the Network Advertising Initiative
- Block third-party cookies in your browser settings, which stops it at the source
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you also have the right to object to how we use your information and to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in California or another US state with a privacy law, you have the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of your information being shared for advertising. The same email address covers all of it.
Do Not Track
We will be straight with you: our first-party analytics collect the same minimal information regardless of a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, because they set no cookies and do not identify you. The advertising cookies described above are the ones worth turning off, and the routes for that are directly above.
Children
This site is meant for people running businesses. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us something, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
When we change how any of this works, we change this page and update the date at the top. We will not quietly swap the meaning and leave the date alone.
